EDFtools

Overview:

EDFtools offers a graphical user interface for some operation on 2D images in edf format only: averaging, subtraction, division of exactly two images and performing offline data reduction. It is based on the saxs programs by P. Bösecke.

Description:

• choose directory
  Select your data directory or type it directly in the corresponding input box. Note that you can start EDFtools from the command line to define a starting directory:  SAXSutilities.exe [starting_directory] EDFtools
• data listbox
  Select the images to be treated. Use the according input box to filter the file list. You have to use wildcards. Use update list to activate the filter or to update the file list.
  
  For all operations you have to select one or several files from the listbox S1.
  The 2D operations require in S2 the selection of one file or the selection of the same number of files as in S1.
  For the SAXS data reduction, S2 serves only for the provision of a software mask if not using the default.

• 2D operations
  Two mode of operation:
  1. choose the same number of files in S1 and S2: the operation is performed file by file
  2. choose only one file in S2: always the same file is used for subtraction etc.
  
  + S1 minus S2
    subtract one file from the other
  
  + divide S1 by S2
    divide one file by the other
  
  + average S1 and S2
    average two files. Averaging of more files can only be done recursively...
  
  + saxs_mac
    offers a possibility to transmit command line parameters of the saxs programs to the saxs_mac command. The expert mode has to be enabled. See below.

• SAXS data reduction

       This section allows to perform offline data reduction of the files selected in S1. Depending on which steps have been already performed during online data reduction the following steps can be selected:

1. normalization

2. regrouping:
       optionally a software mask can be applied: either the mask file as defined in the header must be present in the working directory or a user defined mask can be specified in S2.
       the variance can be calculated from the normalized image intensity.

3. averaging:
       averaging can be performed to receive I(q) or I(angle).
       optionally the integration range can be restricted.

4. output:
       to ASCII file

       Enabling the expert mode, allows to transmit additional parameters to the saxs programs.

most common inputs:
-omod n to allow overwriting of existing files
-i1cen [centrecoord1] [centrecoord2] used in regrouping or before to correct the saved beam centre
